Country-wise Cotton Consumption

China consumes 8.3 Mn metric tonnes of cotton, making it the highest consumer of cotton, contributing to 32% of global cotton consumption. India is distant second, which consumes 5.4 Mn metric tonnes of cotton, accounting for 21% of global consumption. Both these countries are in trade surplus and exports cotton to other countries. USA produces 12% of World's cotton but accounts for only 1% of Global cotton consumption.
